Host of ski races
Kitzbühel have a long history of hosting world famous ski races. To be precise the ski resort have been hosting ski races on a regular basis since the 19th century. And one skier should turn out to be the turning point to the creation of the legend of Kitzbühel. The name is Franz Reisch, who in 1893 became the first person in Austria to win an alpine downhill ski race, held on the Kitzbühler Horn mountain. Today it lives on, fueled by the annual Hahnenkamm downhill race in January on the infamous Streif course. This annual race is without doubt one of the most famous ski races in the world.

Skiing for children
Kitzbühel, like most Austrian destinations has children and beginner slopes. Slopes suitable for beginners can be found throughout the ski area. Especially skiing through the Bärneland, which is the children area, there is no doubt that the youngest will get a great experience. It is to be found by the Bärnebadkogel ll chairlift in Jochberg and features several impressive bear figures along the way. For the adrenalin seekers there is great options for fun and action in the Kitzbühler Horn Snow Park.
Located at the Ganslernbahn cable car is Ministreif. There is created an agility course, which takes fun on the slopes to a whole new level. It is al about balance, courage, agility and quickly.
